JÖRG HELFRICH

slacks since 2005

JÖRG HELFRICH, born in 1979, studied sport science at the university of Konstanz and received his Bachelor of Arts in 2006. As an assistent lecturer for alpinism and skitouring he continues to work for the university's department of sport science and regularly runs climbing courses for “univenture“. Since Mai 2007 Jörg is a certified mountain and skiing guide (VDBS). As a mountain guide he predominantly works for the climbing school “Bergfühlung“ in Tübingen/Germany since then. With the certification as a High Ropes Course Instructor in 2005 Jörg managed to access even another broad field of activity. Since then he has run a multitude of courses aiming at High Ropes Course Instructors in the fields of safety, equipment and pedagogics. Another passion of his is working as an arborist and tree climber. The latter field and his training as a mountain guide have sensitised him especially for ecological themes. That's why he calls sustainability and the protection of trees when slacklining in particular, one of his most vital concerns.

Jörg started climbing in 1995. In light of the necessary rope techniques he is intensively occupied with creative options for rigging slacklines. Particularly in this technical sector he sees his focus. His solutions do not only concern the save and comfortable set up of lowlines but also the very specific and challenging sector of longlines and highlines. Jörg was a member of the DIN-committee for slacklines which establishes standards for the use of slacklines.
